IMPACT WINS 2-1 IN MILWAUKEE

Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Nick DeSantis scored his second goal of the game on a penalty shot at the 73rd minute to help the Impact come from behind and beat the Milwaukee Rampage 2-1 last night at Uihlein Soccer Park.

“Milwaukee is fighting for a spot in the playoffs and they played with a lot of intensity. We came back from behind to win this game and it’s a very good sign for us when you know we only have one game left before the playoffs,” said DeSantis.

However, the Impact will have to play without last night hero until September 15th. Indeed, DeSantis is now going to join the Canadian National Team who will be playing two World Cup qualifying games against Jamaica and El Salvador.

Milwaukee took the lead 1-0 at the 49th minute after a goal by captain Jon Szczepanski on a penalty shot. The penalty shot was awarded after Carl Fletcher tripped David Marshall in the penalty box. Nick DeSantis scored for Montreal 13 minutes later after he got a pass by Giuliano Oliviero.

The Milwaukee Rampage got more scoring chances in the first half. Jason Willan was frustrated two times by Paolo Ceccarelli. Mauro Biello got the best scoring chance of the Impact at the fourth minute when his shot got stopped by goalkeeper Carmine Isacco after receiving a nice pass by Darko Kolic.

Darren Tilley and Bill Sedgewick were not in uniform. Both players were serving a one game suspension because of an accumulation of too many yellow cards.
