IMPACT ENDS HIS SEASON ON A GOOD NOTE

Blaine, Minnesota – The Montreal Impact beat the Minnesota Thunder 4-0 Sunday night in its last regular-season game. The game was played at the National Sports Center in front of a crowd of 3,867 disappointed Thunder fans . Because of this loss, Minnesota is now officially out of the playoffs.

The two clubs faced each other for the first time on August 24th in Montreal. The Impact also won 4-0 and Darren Tilley was named the game’s first star after getting one goal and three assists.

Tilley really seems to enjoy playing against the Thunder. Indeed, he scored twice last Sunday including the first goal of the game after a nice play by Onandi Lowe on the left side of the penalty area.

It was a first start for Onandi Lowe since he fractured his right foot on July 16th in Montreal during a game against the Raleigh Flyers. The men with the red shoes also scored a spectacular goal at the 74th minute of play.

“I feel goof even if I’m not 100 %. The playoffs are about to start and I know I can help the team. We’ve just won our last five games of the regular season and I think it shows that our team is ready for the playoffs,” said the Jamaican forward a few minutes after the game.

Darren Tilley and Darko Kolic scored the two other goals unassisted in the last minutes of the game.

The Impact’s record in 1997 is 21 wins and seven losses for a total of 61 points. The Montreal team finished first overall in the A-League.

The Impact will play its first playoff s game Friday, September 5th against the Lynx in Toronto.
